Contemporary photographer, Joshua Jensen-Nagle (born in New Jersey, USA) travels the globe capturing dreamy beachscapes from high above, often hanging out of helicopters for his birds-eye views. His ongoing series Endless Summer shows people as colorful specks clustered on sun-soaked stretches of sand, with expansive green or blue masses of water filling the compositions like abstract elements. His immersive, cinematic, large-scale photos invite viewers to lose themselves in the image, sparking associations that might resemble the artist’s own memories of a “childhood spent on the shore of Mantoloking, New Jersey …memories of never-ending days basking in the sun, floating in the water, surfing and jumping waves.” Viewing photography as a “means to evoke emotion rather than document a reality,” the images are not to be interpreted as documentation of these people or places, but rather are intended to stimulate the viewer’s reflection of their own experiences, dreams and memories, bringing them into the work. Jensen-Nagle bases his well-established art practice in Toronto, Canada after studying Photography at Ryerson University in 1999, producing all of his work in-house at his west-end studio. Having mounted over fifty exhibitions throughout his career, he has developed a strong standing in the art world, and is collected widely throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Highlighted art fair presence includes Photo London, Art Toronto, Art Miami, Scope Miami, Art Palm Beach
