Gavin Rain
Gavin Rain
Rain is a contemporary artist based in South Africa, best known for his Neo-Pointillist paintings. The artist created this unique style in 2004 after developing the technique for 2 years. The main purpose behind his style is to force viewers to acknowledge that part of the narrative of each painting is 'hidden in plain sight' - whereby it is impossible to see the subject of the painting until the viewer takes a few steps back. His work has also been described as “pseudo-digital” because it emulates a digital image using rows of dots in a pattern similar to that of a television or computer screen.
